What is a CSA and how does it work?

CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is essentially a subscription to the farm and to the produce it grows during the season. This ensures that you will have a box of clean, healthy, pesticide-free produce each week! By joining our CSA, you will be partnering with BeetRoot’s vision of building local food systems where consumers know the farmer that grows their food and the practices that were used throughout the process. We believe that there is no substitute for this type of transparency. By paying up front at the beginning of the season, you help support us during the early season when compost, seeds, amendments, and equipment all have to be purchased before any plants go in the ground.

Free-Choice CSA: Get only the produce you want

Traditional CSA programs often don’t allow you to customize which veggies go in your box each week. At BeetRoot, we believe the customer should only get the produce they want, and nothing they don’t! Don’t like radishes? No big deal - you can choose another available vegetable to substitute for it or you can double up on something you really like …. did someone say tomatoes?

CSA Options: Full vs Half Share

Full Share: Members choose any 10 “items” per week from June - October (20-week season). An “item” could be a bunch of beets, pound of carrots, a head of lettuce, etc. We recommend this option for couples, families, or individuals who really love vegetables!

Price: $650

Half Share: Members choose any 5 items “items” per week from June - October (20-week season). An “item” is a bunch of beets, pound of carrots, a head of lettuce, etc. We recommend this option for individuals or for couples who don’t need as much produce.

Price: $385

Sliding Scale: If the cost of a CSA share is prohibitive to you, feel free to reach out to us via email and we can discuss ways to make the share more affordable - we believe everyone should have access to healthy food!

Give a Share: If you would like to donate towards providing a share to someone less fortunate, please email us!
