About
BeetRoot Farm is situated on 14 acres of lightly rolling hills just south of Carbondale, IL near the intersection of Giant City Rd and Boskydell. We are teeming with excitement as we prepare to begin farming this property in the spring of 2023. Noah has spent several seasons working on vegetable farms, both in southern IL as well as at Frith Farm in Scarborough, ME where he worked as an apprentice for the 2022 season. He is indebted to his farming mentors who have inspired him to farm with care and intent. He hopes BeetRoot can be a nexus for fellowship centered on good food, family and friendships, and a collective caring for the land and our local community.
The grower of trees, the gardener, the man born to farming, whose hands reach into the ground and sprout, to him the soil is a divine drug. He enters into death yearly, and comes back rejoicing. He has seen the light lie down in the dung heap, and rise again in the corn.
-Wendell Berry
Stewardship: We are humbled by the responsibility of caring for our little piece of land and sharing its bounty with our neighbors.
Community: Sharing food is a great excuse to sit down and laugh with your friends.
Transparency: We think having a relationship with your farmer is more valuable than any government certification. Want to know how your food is grown? Come see for yourself!
Taking Action: Talk is cheap these days. We are striving to align our words and actions - doing our little part towards a better future.
